The attorneys.
A boutique practice — every matter is staffed by an attorney, not an intake team.
Michael Y. Goldberg
Background
Navigating complex tax and financial matters can feel overwhelming — that's where I come in. My job is to give clients clarity and a path forward, whether they're managing a personal tax issue, resolving a business dispute, or facing a court deadline.
As a financial expert witness, I work at the intersection of accounting, valuation, and the courtroom. I translate intricate financial data into evidence a judge or jury can act on — and I write reports that survive cross-examination.
Before founding Goldberg Tax Law, I worked at two nationally-recognized tax controversy law firms and the Maryland Tax Court. I am frequently asked to lecture on tax controversy topics — including to IRS Revenue Officers.

Avi Kafka
Background
I'm passionate about helping clients navigate tax challenges and reach financial peace of mind. My practice focuses on tax controversy, compliance, and strategic planning for individuals and businesses.
I represent clients on a wide range of tax issues — from negotiating with the IRS to solving corporate-structure questions. Before joining the firm, I worked in estate planning, real-estate transactions, financial analysis, and litigation, which gives me a well-rounded perspective on the underlying problems clients bring to us.
At Cardozo Law, I was an Articles Editor for the Journal of Conflict Resolution, a research assistant to tax-law scholar Professor Zelinsky, and Treasurer of the Tax Law Society.
